§ Mr. Denis HowellA circular was issued to all local authorities in August 1970 drawing attention to the provisions of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970, and in the Government's White Paper on Sport and Recreation (Cmnd. 6200) published last year, special mention was made of the needs of the disabled. All concerned with the provision of facilities were urged to seek out ways of facilitating attendance at sports meetings by the disabled. The Sports Council is empowered to make grants for the adaptation of existing buildings for sport and recreational purposes including appropriate provision for the disabled.
