§ Mr. Reidasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will consider initiating an investigation into the potential of probation as an alternative to prison sentences, similar to the Home Office IMPACT Study (Intensive Matched Probation and After-Care Treatment).
§ Mr. McElhoneAn interim evaluation of the IMPACT Study was published in 1974, and further material is to be published shortly. This will be carefully studied by my right hon. Friend's research staff, who have been in close touch with their Home Office colleagues as the research has developed.
