The staff total, which does not include the staff of the water companies, supersedes the figure given in my answer of 4th December—[Vol. 901, c. 713]—to the hon. Member for Norfolk, North (Mr. Howell), which by mistake included the staffs of the English water companies. I am sorry for this error, on which I have written to the hon. Member concerned.
