§ Mr. Cleggasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he has referred the question of the ages of consent for sexual relations to the Policy Advisory Committee to the Criminal Law Review Board.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe law on sexual offences is under review by the Criminal Law Revision Committee as part of its programme of codification of the criminal law and the ages of consent necessarily fall to be considered in the course of the review. The Policy Advisory Committee on Sexual Offences has been set up to advise on wider issues which raises medical and social as well as legal problems, of which the ages of consent is one.
