§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has to 268W replace the road vehicle licence by a higher fuel tax; and at the present level of road vehicle licence, what increase in tax per gallon of fuel would be necessary to raise the same revenue.
§ Mr. Denzil Davies:Any plans to replace vehicle excise duty would be a matter for my right hon. Friend's Budget Statement. As for the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Melton (Mr. Latham) on 19th January.
