HC Deb 29 January 1976 vol 904 c265W
Mr. Luard

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he proposes to take to implement the recommendation of the Central Policy Review Staff for stabilising fiscal policy affecting the motor industry.

Mr. Joel Barnett:

The Government have committed themselves in the White Paper on the British Motor Vehicle Industry to providing, as far as possible, a stable economic environment for domestic sales of motor vehicles. Other considerations may, however, require the use of fiscal instuments affecting the motor industry, and, if so, the position and prospects of the industry will be taken fully into account.
