HC Deb 29 January 1976 vol 904 c264W
Mr. Freud

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will introduce legislation to make the aggregation of a wife and husband's income for tax purposes an offence under the Sex Discrimination Act; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Robert Sheldon:

No. The law already provides that a husband or wife can apply to be separately assessed.
