HC Deb 29 January 1976 vol 904 cc287-8W
14. Mr. Blaker

asked the Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he next expects to meet the NFU to discuss the problems of horticulture.

19. Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what recent representations he has received from the National Farmers' Union regarding current problems facing the glasshouse industry.

Mr. Strang

Horticulture is being considered in the context of the Annual Review and will no doubt be discussed when my right hon. Friend next meets the NFU in that connection.

22. Mr. Watkinson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he remains satisfied with the future prospects of the glasshouse industry.

Mr. Strang

I remain confident that efficient growers will adapt to circumstances and continue to provide the high quality produce in demand by consumers. Although the glasshouse industry suffered some damage on the night of 2nd January this is not expected to have a significant effect on total production or the prospects of the industry generally.
