HC Deb 29 January 1976 vol 904 c321W
Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what estimates he has made of the potential energy saving that could result from the adoption of double summer time; and what further consideration he is giving to this proposal.

Mr. Benn

Estimated savings would be about 0.5 per cent. of our total electricity consumption, offset by a number of penalties. The nett savings, if any, are not thought to justify the change.
