HC Deb 29 January 1976 vol 904 c325W
Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many schemes for comprehensive reorganisation involving direct-grant schools he has received since 1974; if he will list those that he rejected; and if he will state which direct-grant schools have announced their intention of going independent as a result.

Miss Joan Lestor:

Since 1974 statutory proposals have been submitted to the Secretary of State for Education and Science for the entry into the maintained system, as comprehensive schools, of six direct-grant grammar schools. No decision has yet been reached on any of these proposals.
