asked the Prime Minister if he will define the duties of the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

The Prime Minister

In addition to his Duchy of Lancaster responsibilities, my right hon. Friend is responsible for the negotiations to achieve majority State participation in commercial oilfields found under existing licences in the North Sea. He is also undertaking, in consultation with the Minister for the Arts, an assessment of the financial problems facing the arts. More generally, he acts as my adviser on economic and financial matters.
