HC Deb 28 January 1976 vol 904 c259W
Mr. Maurice Macmillan

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the estimated saving to the Exchequer from the abolition of the family income supplement in the fiscal years 1975–76, 1976–77 and 1977–78.

Mr. O'Malley

The estimated cost of family income supplement (FIS) in 1975–76 is £12 million. The cost in future years will depend on the movement of earnings and any changes which are made to the prescribed FIS levels in the light of then prevailing economic circumstances.
