HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c76W
Mr. Cormack

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that £60,000 in grants from public funds has already been given towards the restoration of Stonor Park and as no suitable buyer has come forward to purchase this house of exceptional historic and architectural importance, he will make provision from the Land Fund for it to be acquired and preserved for the nation.

Mr. Joel Barnett

The Finance Acts do not empower me to enter into private treaty sales in respect of houses of exceptional historic and architectural importance at the expense of the National Land Fund.
