HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 cc23-4W
Mr. Gow

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will give a breakdown of the figure of £750 million, being his estimate of the net cost to public funds during the year ending 5th April 1976 of the Property Services Agency.

Mr. Crosland

The net expenditure by the Agency on its Votes in 1975–76 is expected to be approximately as follows:

£ million
Defence accommodation services, etc. 408
Office and general accommodation services 315
Overseas representation: accommodation services, etc. 24
747

Allowing for extra receipts and for services provided by other Government Departments, the total is approximately £750 million. Of this about £650 million is accounted for by the provision of accommodation and other services for Government Departments, mainly building works, rents, maintenance, running costs, furniture, equipment and transport. The balance is the Agency's administration costs—including payment of salaries, consultants' fees, and general expenses—incurred in providing these various services.
