HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c23W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the increase in price of Ordnance Survey maps (1: 1,250 scale single sheet) from £1.16 in December 1974 to £4.20 in December 1975 is within the price code; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Oakes

The Price Code does not apply to Government fees and charges though similar disciplines are applied. Lithographically-printed large-scale maps on paper are expensive to publish, store and distribute and the same information can be provided in other forms at substantially lower cost. Microfilm printouts of 1: 1,250 maps are available at £1.70 a sheet.
