§ Mr. Sproatasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total number of extra persons employed by local authorities in Scotland between January 1975 and the latest available date; and if he will list the extra numbers by each individual region and district council, as against the numbers employed by the 34W old local authorities for the areas in question.
§ Mr. William RossI expect to receive shortly the results of a survey, conducted by the National Joint Councils for Local Authorities Services (Scottish Councils), to indicate the total numbers of local authority employees before and after reorganisation. Direct comparisons between individual old and new authorities will, however, not be possible in view of the changes in areas and responsibilities which took place on reorganisation.
