HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c75W
Mr. Gow

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how the agreement of the Executive Board of the IMF to the request for the credit facilities asked for in his letter to the Chairman of the IMF, dated 18th December 1975, was communicated to him.

Mr. Dell

My right hon. Friend was informed of the Board's decision by the United Kingdom Director. The decision was then formally notified by the IMF to the Bank of England, as agent of the Government.

Mr. Gow

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why his two letters to the Chairman of the IMF, written on 18th December 1975, were not published until 13th January 1976.

Mr. Dell

In accordance with the practice on previous occasions my right hon. Friend makes the letters available to the House after the approval by the IMF Executive Board of the United Kingdom's applications. This took place on 31st December and the text of the letters were placed in the Library as soon as possible after the House reassembled.
