HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c78W
Mr. Neubert

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what evidence he has of the increasing practice of the Christmas and New Year weeks being taken as annual leave since New Year's Day was made a public holiday; to what extent this is additional leave as opposed to a previously agreed entitlement; and what effect this has had on the level of industrial output.

Mr. Booth

The incidence of holidays is a matter for local negotiation, and the information about it is not collected systematically. It is not possible to distinguish accurately the effects on output of changes in holiday practices as distinct from other influences.
