asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will consider guidelines to make State financial help to industry more selective.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

The Government's criteria were made available in the Library of the House on 12th January. The approach is already very selective, in that each case is viewed on its merits against the considerations described.
