HC Deb 26 January 1976 vol 904 c4W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the estimated cost of salaries and administration of the Equal Opportunities Commission in 1976–77 and 1977–78; the cost of literature so far published by the Equal Opportunities Commission; and the expected expenditure on advertising the Commission in 1976–77.

Dr. Summerskill

The estimated cost of salaries and administration, excluding publicity, of the Equal Opportunities Commission in 1976–77 is £1,115,000. It is not possible at this stage to give a close estimate of costs in 1977–78, but it was originally envisaged that the annual cost of the Commission might rise to £2.25 million in about three years. The cost of literature already published by the Commission is £106,150; the Commission expects to spend £200,000 on publicity in 1976–77.
