asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will now take steps to reduce Her Majesty's Government's stake in BP from 70 per cent. to the traditional 51 per cent., using the capital gain on the sale of BP shares to purchase the Burmah Oil Company's share of the North Sea Ninian Field.

No decision has yet been taken on the disposal of the BP shares which the Bank of England bought from the Burmah Oil Company.
