§ Lord James Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many of the Service men to be made redundant by the Government's cuts in defence expenditure will receive a pension which is not compensated for inflation from the time of payment.
§ Mr. JuddIt is not possible to assess, at this early stage, the numbers who will prove to be in this category. However, those who retire or are discharged on redundancy and are eligible for immediate pension will receive pensions increases in recognition of inflation on attaining age 55; those who are invalided or subsequently become incapacitated receive the increases immediately.
