HC Deb 22 January 1976 vol 903 c520W
Q24. Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Prime Minister what is the cost to public funds involved in the inquiries leading to the production of the following Reports: (a) The British Motor Vehicle Industry by the Trade and Industry Sub-Committee of the Committee on Public Expenditure and (b) the CPRS Report on the Future of the British Car Industry; how he accounts for the difference in respective costs; and what is his estimate of their comparable cost effectiveness.

The Prime Minister

The cost to public funds of the enquiries leading to the production of the CPRS Report on the Future of the British Car Industry was £229,000. The printing of the Report was undertaken by HMSO and the Report priced on the HMSO standard formula designed to break even across the board.

There is no ministerial responsibility for inquiries undertaken by a Committee of the House.
