HC Deb 22 January 1976 vol 903 cc568-9W
Sir D. Kaberry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what statutory or other sanctions now prevail to prevent a United Kingdom industrial firm putting into effect immediately a newly-negotiated productivity agreement with its employees to provide for greater production on the basis of better plant manning at present, or less, unit cost and with the effect of providing for greater exports, thus avoiding the necessity of importing additional expensive production machinery;

(2) if he will make a statement on the present possibilities in connection with negotiations for better rewards in industry for greater measured productivity.

Mr. Booth

There is nothing to prevent the introduction of new productivity agreements provided pay increases are kept within the limits set out in Cmnd 6151 "The Attack on Inflation".
