asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what are the functions and duties of the British representative at the United Nations.

Mr. Ennals

The functions and duties of the British representative at the United Nations are:

  1. (a) To represent British views in all organs of the UN and to ensure that British interests are fully protected.
  2. (b) To keep Her Majesty's Government informed of all developments at the UN, including views expressed and resolutions proposed in the General Assembly and the Security Council.
  3. (c) To take any opportunity to promote the ideals and aims of the UN as expressed in its Charter.
