§ 29. Mr. McNamaraasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make a statement on the present unemployment situation in the Hull travel-to-work area.
§ Mr. John FraserThe level of unemployment in the Hull travel-to-work area is substantially above that for the Yorkshire and Humberside Region and for the country as a whole. Hull already has substantial advantages as an intermediate area. Although any major reduction in the level of unemployment in the Hull area is likely to depend on an upturn in the economy generally the area is expected to benefit to some extent from the recent measures designed to ameliorate the worst effects of unemployment.
