§ Mr. Shersbyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to provide for interest to be paid on rate refunds made by local authorities in line with the arrangements for the payment of interest on tax refunds in accordance with Section 47 of the Finance (No. 2) Act 1975.
§ Mr. OakesMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has at present no plans to do so. It is relevant that interest is not chargeable on overdue rate payments.
