Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) if he will publish in the Official Report the number of people who have taken advantage of the resettlement transfer scheme in each of the regions since September 1975;

(2) how many people, since September 1975, have taken advantage of the resettlement transfer scheme in the light of the Government's special measures to reduce unemployment on Merseyside.

I am advised by the Manpower Services Commission that the information requested is not yet available. I will circulate it in theOfficial Report when it becomes available.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how much money he estimates has been spent in pursuance of the resettlement transfer scheme during the current year.

I am advised by the Manpower Services Commission that the amount spent on grants and allowances under the Employment Transfer Scheme in the financial year 1975–76, to December 1975, is estimated at £4,550,000.
