HC Deb 15 January 1976 vol 903 cc201-2W
Mr. Mike Thomas

asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement about the reimbursement of general medical practitioners' practice expenses in 1975–76.

The Prime Minister

Following a request by the medical profession for further consideration of the provision for the reimbursement of general medical practitioners' practice expenses for 1975–76, the Doctors' and Dentists' Review Body has submitted a Second Supplement to its Fifth Report which has been published today as a Command Paper. I am grateful to Sir Ernest Woodroofe and his April 1969 the annual total amounts paid from public funds under the headings "Armed Forces" (Army and UDR), Police (RUC and RUCR) and "Others" are set out in the table below:

colleagues for this Report. The Review Body recommend an increase of £200 to reflect increased costs in running a practice. The Government are satisfied that this increase is fully consistent with their pay policy. It is not a pay increase, and the Report indicates specifically that the Review Body's recommended average net remuneration for general medical practitioners in 1975–76 remains unchanged at £8,485.
