§ Mr. Kimballasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if in the review of the Water Act 1973 he will seek to transfer the responsibility for emptying septic tanks from the district councils to the water authority to avoid the present anomaly whereby the councils empty the tanks but the water authority has to dispose of and treat the contents.
§ Mr. Denis HowellThis is a matter on which my right hon. Friend will be inviting views from those concerned in a consultation document on the review of the water industry which he expects to publish shortly.
