§ Mr. MulleyThe numbers of pupils in maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools in each local education authority in England and Wales are listed in the annual digest of educational statistics published jointly by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and the Society of County Treasurers, copies of which are in the Library. Numbers of pupils in the latest volume relate to January 1975. Due to internal migration, and other local factors, reliable projections of the school population in 1981 in each local authority area can only be made in the light of detailed local knowledge which is not collated by my Department.
