asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many acres of trees were planted by owner-occupiers in Scotland in 1975; and what were the corresponding figures for the last five years.

However, statistics of planting in Scotland on which grants were paid in the particular year under the Forestry Commission's grant aid schemes for private woodland owners, plus an estimate for the area planted without the aid of grants, are set out in the table below:
