§ Mr. OakesMy right hon. Friend the Minister of State (Sport and Recreation) has held informal discussions with the Jockey Club and other major racing interests about the future organisation and administration of the industry. In conjunction with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department he is considering the desirability of establishing a National Racing Council representative of the whole of the sport and incorporating the Jockey Club as the traditional custodian of the integrity of the sport. The longer-term236W arrangements will depend very much on the deliberations of the Royal Commission on Gambling, the composition of which was announced by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister yesterday.
