§ Mr. Nobleasked the Secretary of State for Trade what steps are being taken by his Department to monitor imports of footwear from Eastern Europe.
§ Mr. DeakinsPoland, Czechoslovakia and Romania agreed to limit in 1975 their exports of men's leather footwear, excluding sandals, to the United Kingdom and importers were required to make monthly returns of actual and proposed imports. Discussions to continue these arrangements into 1976 and to extend the coverage to include similar footwear for women and children are in hand but have yet to be completed. Footwear with outer soles and uppers of rubber or artificial plastic material is subject to quota when imported from Eastern Europe.
