HC Deb 23 February 1976 vol 906 cc32-3W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to publish the report of the Committee on Minerals Planning Control.

Mr. John Silkin

The report is being published today.

I should like to take this opportunity, on behalf of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for the Environment and for Scotland and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales, of thanking Sir Roger Stevens and the members of the Committee for their very thorough study of the problems of planning control over mineral working. The Government welcome the report, but before coming to any conclusion on its many recommendations they will wish to hear the views of the local authority associations, the minerals industry, amenities bodies and others with an interest in the extraction of minerals.

Copies of the report are available in the Library.
