HC Deb 19 February 1976 vol 905 c763W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Lord President of the Council if he will move to appoint a Select Committee of the House to examine the annual and other reports of the Hong Kong Government and matters connected therewith.

Mr. Edward Short

No. My right hon. Friend the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary and I do not see any present need for the appointment of a Select Committee of the House for the purpose which my hon. Friend has in mind. The Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary will be visiting Hong Kong in early May and will have a firsthand opportunity to examine the situation there.
