asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether the number of tenant farmers is increasing or decreasing.

Mr. Strang

I regret that information as to the number of tenant farmers is not available. The number of agricultural holdings in England and Wales rented wholly or in part fell from 125,500 in 1970 to 113,800 in 1974. These figures are not strictly comparable because of a change in the coverage of the census.
