HC Deb 18 February 1976 vol 905 c722W
Mr. Gow

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he is satisfied that the strength of the security forces at present in Northern Ireland is sufficient in view of the increased level of violence.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I am satisfied that the General Officer Commanding Northern Ireland has sufficient troops available to meet the current threat to security but the level of security forces is kept under constant review. Recruiting to the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the reserve forces is good.
