asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if it is his policy to support full membership of Greece in the EEC at an early date.

Yes. On 9th February my colleagues at the Council of Ministers and I pronounced unanimously in favour of the Greek application for full membership. We agreed that preliminary work should be undertaken rapidly by the Committee of Permanent Representatives and the Commission to allow negotiations to be opened as soon as possible.
