§ Mr. Wardasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether there are any regultions which would prevent the import into the United Kingdom of Indian produced potatoes, of which 10,000 tonnes of a bumper crop are held for export by the Indian National Agriculture Co-operative Marketing Federation.

§ Mr. StrangYes. Our plant health regulations do not include India among the countries from which imports of potatoes may be permitted. It would, however, be possible for my right hon. Friend to license such imports provided he is satisfied that India is free from serious potato diseases or pests which could be a danger to our own crops. Information on this is being sought from the Indian authorities.
