§ Mr. Eyreasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will now make it his practice in appropriate cases of public importance to answer Questions in relation to operational matters for the police.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsAlthough I always endeavour to provide hon. Members with information derived from reports from the police where this is appropriate, operational matters are the responsibility of chief officers of police and I do not intend to commit myself to any practice which might detract from or appear to conflict with that responsibility.
