HL Deb 17 February 1976 vol 368 c464WA
Lord MACLEOD of FUINARY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why the Home Office treats the Nullity of Marriage Act 1971 as applying to Scotland when this Act does not extend to Scotland.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

The Nullity of Marriage Act 1971 (as amended) was consolidated in the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 which, similarly, does not extend to Scotland. If the noble Lord would let me know of any instance in which it seems to him that the Home Office has appeared to regard either of these Acts as extending to Scotland we will look into the matter and write to him.
