§ Mr. John FraserEmployment in the Greater London area has been adversely affected by the present economic recession. However, unemployment in Greater London as a whole is still significantly below the national average. Although over the last 10 years certain structural changes have led to a decrease in the number of employees in employment, all the indicators point to there continuing to be over the longer term a relatively high level of demand for labour in the Greater London area as a whole.
