HL Deb 12 February 1976 vol 368 cc301-2WA
Lord BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What, if any, are the as yet unremitted amounts of any Overseas Aid promised to or arranged with the following for 1976: Kenya; Tanzania; Zambia; Nigeria; Ghana; Mozambique; Uganda.

Baroness LLEWELYN-DAVIES of HASTOE

The amounts of unremitted British capital aid pledged to the countries mentioned are as follows:

Kenya—£11 million out of current pledges totalling £17.5 million.

Tanzania—£10.62 million out of current pledges totalling £12.5 million.

Zambia—£8.33 million out of current pledges of £13.31 million.

Nigeria—£11.525 million out of current pledges totalling £32.3 million.

Ghana—£10 million has very recently been offered and accepted for commitment during the years 1976–79.

Mozambique—Nil.

Uganda—Nil.

Disbursements in 1976, as in later years, against these commitments are difficult to forecast accurately; they will be determined by the rate of progress on agreed projects.
