As regards the march on 1st February organised by the Derry Comhairlecheantair, the Chief Constable took the view that since the march fell within the exception in Section 1(1) of the Public Order Act (Northern Ireland) 1951 for
a public procession which is customarily held along a particular route",the requirement to give written notification did not apply.
