HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 c271W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what has been the response of the United Kingdom to the UNCTAD Draft Convention on Liners Conferences; if he will make a statement on any associated obligation of the Treaty of Rome; and if he intends to discuss the issues at the forthcoming Nairobi conference.

Mr. Deakins

Her Majesty's Government voted against the UN Liner Code Convention in 1974. As far as I am aware, it will not be discussed at the forthcoming UNCTAD Conference in Nairobi. Questions of compatibility between the Convention and the Treaty of Rome are under consideration in the Community institutions.
