HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 c213W
Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what cut backs, if any, he has approved in the staffing strength of the police force in the Strathclyde Regional Council area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. William Ross

None as far as the regular force is concerned, though I have asked police authorities to keep the number of civilian employees to the level of those in post on 30th June 1975. I understand that the Strathclyde Police Authority is to consider a recommendation that the number of police in post on 31st March 1976 should be regarded as the ceiling for the year 1976–77.
