Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern what facilities are available for the storing of beef, mutton and pork in Northern Ireland; and if he is satisfied that these facilities are adequate to meet whatever demands are likely to be made upon them in 1976.

In Northern Ireland there are eight cold stores which can store beef, mutton and pigmeat to the standards required by the EEC directives on intra-Community trade in meat and the EEC regulations on the support buying of beef and pigmeat. These stores can hold up to 10,500 tons of bone-in carcase meat or 14,000 tons of boneless boxed meat.

There is reasonable capacity to satisfy the storage requirements of the trade for

3,364 Berkshire International Ltd. Undergoing renovation and no prospective tenants.

2,916 McKee and James Negotiations are in progress with one company.
3,666 Belzerwerk Ltd. No prospective tenants although it is at present being occupied on a temporary basis.
Lisburn (1) 1,580 (New) Two companies have shown an interest and the factory has been provisionally allocated to one of them.
