HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 cc218-9W
Mr Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of state for the Environment in view of his decision that the A143 route through West Suffolk is to be considered for designation as a through route for heavy lorries, what steps he is taking to provide a link road from the A45 to the A143 which avoids the town centre of Bury St. Edmunds; how soon he expects to realign the A143 and improve its quality in the vicinity of Great Barton; and when he expects to start work on a bypass to enable heavy lorries to avoid the village of Exworth.

Mr. Marks

The A143 is a principal road. Plans for its improvement are, therefore, a matter for the local highway authority, the Suffolk County Council.
