HC Deb 11 February 1976 vol 905 c231W
Mr. Pym

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cases of food poisoning have been attributed to infected New York dressed poultry.

Dr. Owen

Figures are not available for the number of food poisoning cases attributed to infected New York dressed poultry, as the category of poultry concerned is not usually known.

Mr. Pym

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cases of salmonella poisoning have been attributed in the last year to infected poultry.

Dr. Owen

In 1974, the latest year for which figures are available, the number of outbreaks of salmonella poisoning reported to the Public Health Laboratory Service in which the vehicle of infection was attributed to poultry was 14.
